http://society6.com/GroveCanada/DIY-Medicine_T-shirt#11=49&4=13 Here’s the link to see all the T-Shirt choices
at Society 6 (our GroveCanada profile there)!
In Mac’s free Paintbrush program,
I made the size custom 330 width by 510 because Society 6 requires t-shirts to be 3300 x 5100, but that is unwieldy to work with, so I kept the ratio, & dropped the whole size to 10% of that, to keep proportions…
I drew rectangles over & over again…First one big one…Then inside, overlapping the big one, one rectangle cutting it all in half, then half those again, then into thirds…So
you get a table chart with 12 rows or columns, & three segments in those…(more rectangles added)…
Click the Text button & write in your words, one at a time…
Go over the giant rectangle with some more rectangles to make the outside line thicker & smoother…
Save the file as an image…
Ok, now you want your final submission to be way larger…This is a workaround…
Go back into Paintbrush & choose Custom size 3300 by 5100…
Save that blank screen as an image…
Now in Mac Preview, open the big file, then also open the little file with your chart…
On the little file, click Select All, then Copy…(keep it open)
Now go to the Big file(still open) & click Paste…The little chart will paste onto the big file screen…
Now grab the edges of the chart that has been pasted & stretch it to fit your big file screen…
Here, I left a gap at the top…Now close the little file…
Ok, now with the chart stuck onto the big file that is the right size, I clicked Annotate to write in some words at the top of the Chart…
Done…Save file as Jpeg…
Go to Society 6 to your account there…Upload the file & add title & description…
It publishes a print version…Then it asks if you want to publish on other products…
Choose the t-shirt…Upload that same big file again, & wow you know have t-shirts with your design on them…
Taadah!
Bonus Tip: http://www.icreatemagazine.com/news/use-instant-alpha-to-quickly-cut-out-images-in-preview/ A way easier way to make your background or parts of your image transparent(always use PNG not Jpeg for transparent backgrounds by the way-it doesn’t work in Jpeg files-so click File, Save as, PNG, to change your Jpeg to PNG before trying this trick)…
Ok, so open your PNG image on your MAC…Preview opens it…At the top edge should be a tool bar…Choose Select, then INSTANT ALPHA…
Now go to your image & drag your cursor over an small area that represents the background, or whatever you want made transparent…
Instant Alpha detects the whole area & some dotted lines show up on the area desired…
Click the DELETE button on your keyboard…
Now the whole area you want to disappear does!
Keep doing this to get rid of all white areas or areas you want transparent…
Done!
Ok, so now you get how to resize things…
If you want to do another Society 6 product, all you do is go to your original product, choose Add more products, then it gives you all the choices PLUS it tells you what sizes you will need…
Go to Mac Paintbrush again…Open a new file & make the CUSTOM size whatever the size of the screen is you will need for the finished product…
Now save that as a Jpeg…
Open it on your desktop…Open your image with your design on it…Choose Select All on your Image then Copy…Open your correct size blank image, then PASTE your image there, then ADJUST the size of it by fiddling with the size bars…
Save it…Now you have a correctly sized image for the product in question…

iPhone & Ipod Skins & Stationary below…
Also, dark shirts(you need to make background transparent for these-open the image in Mac preview then use the lasso tool to select white space then click CUT & repeat this in a few places-this makes enough background to be transparent for Society 6’s computer to accept the file & place it also on dark t-shirts…without doing this only light colour shirts show up…), shower curtain, tote bag, pillow…
See those two rectangular bars of either side of the oval at the top of the t-shirt? I just cut them out in Mac preview, then saved the image as PNG…That makes the Society 6 program accept the PNG for dark t-shirts…It’s a workaround if, like me, you didn’t buy Photoshop…
Here’s how it looks using the INSTANT ALPHA function in Mac’s basic Preview…I did the text in Mac’s free Paintbrush, then used Instant Alpha to lose the background/make it transparent…
I don’t know if it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else experiencing problems
with your website. It looks like some of the text ithin your posts are
running off the screen. Can someone else please provide
feedback and let me know if this is happening to them too?
This may be a issue with my web browser because I’ve had this happen before.
